Africa: Grow Africa at the AGRF2019 Agribusiness Deal Room

The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) through its Grow Africa Programme would like to invite media to a side event within the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF)

Deal Room. This event will provide a platform for project sponsors, borrowers, lenders and investors to sign term sheets (agreement between public and private sector facilitated by grow Africa) and commit to investing over USD 350 million in the African agriculture value-chain in Malawi, Uganda, Eswatini, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire by 2023

Event name: Driving Private Sector investment for Africa’s Rapidly Growing Food Systems to Achieve the SDGs

When: 4 September 2019

Time: 10h00 – 11h00

Where: Bilateral & Investment Center Main Stage – Deal Room 1, Accra International Convention Center – Ghana

Who: Speakers at the conference will include Mr Ibrahim Gourouza, COO of Grow Africa, representatives of African Governments and Private Sector companies singing the term sheets.

The Agribusiness Deal Room seeks to showcase the results of the implementation of the Country Agribusiness Partnership Framework (CAP-F) – a Grow Africa implementation tool – which is an innovative mechanism employed by governments to engage the private sector and develop agribusiness partnerships that bring investment into the agriculture sector while meeting commercial and development objectives simultaneously.

The implementation of CAP-F in Grow Africa’s countries of engagement has led to the development of term Sheets which are official agreements between the public and, private sector, facilitated by Grow Africa, on the principal terms of a proposed investment in the agriculture sector.

The event will bring together the signatories of the selected Term Sheets for the official announcement and signing of these agreements.  The Term Sheets that will be signed cover several countries and span across different value chains, namely; poultry, dairy, rice, tomato, coffee, and horticulture.  This bold step will pave the way for the actualization of these Term Sheets into concrete and tangible investment deals.
